Garda, May 19, 2025 – The countdown continues for Garda Cinema, the new Film Festival directed by Franco Dassisti and organized by the La Decima Musa Association, chaired by Domenica Currò, which will bring the best of Italian cinema to the Verona shores of Lake Garda from June 11 to 15, 2025.

The opening night, on Wednesday, June 11, will feature a special screening of Ambra Sabatini – A un metro dal traguardo, directed by Mattia Ramberti and distributed in Italian cinemas by Adler Entertainment. The film tells the incredible story of Paralympic athlete Ambra Sabatini, gold medalist in Tokyo in 2010 and Paris in 2023. A powerful and moving work, the film conveys important messages to a wide audience and perfectly embodies the theme of this year’s edition – Beyond the Border – by exploring personal challenge and the overcoming of limits. The evening is organized in collaboration with Società Autostrade.

The festival will also pay tribute to Maurizio Nichetti, iconic Italian director and actor known for legendary films such as Ratataplan and Volere Volare. At Garda Cinema, he will present Amichemai, a surreal comedy marking his highly anticipated return to the big screen after more than twenty years.

Among the first confirmed guests is Giovanna Mezzogiorno, who will participate as an author in the festival’s literary section – a space designed to foster open dialogue between cinema and other arts. A major figure in Italian cinema, Mezzogiorno will present her book Ti racconto il mio cinema (Mondadori Ragazzi), an intimate reflection on art, characters, and the emotions that have shaped her career.

Alongside the lakeside gala evenings, where each night outstanding works from the Italian film season will be awarded in the presence of special guests, the festival will also feature the International Short Film Competition, with works divided into two sections: fiction and documentary. Each section will grant a cash prize.Additionally, the Genius Loci section will highlight cinema connected to the local territory.

The courtyard of the Town Hall, a charming venue overlooking the Regina Adelaide lakeside promenade, and the modern Garda Conference Hall are ready to welcome directors, writers, actors, and film lovers for a festival that promises to make a lasting impression.

The full program and guest list for Garda Cinema will be unveiled during the press conference on Wednesday, May 28.
